Rihanna controversial new "Man Down" video has brought back painful memories for actress Gabrielle Union -she tried to shoot the man who was raping her.
Movie star was sexual abuse gunsights and beaten by an intruder at store shoe she worked on before she found fame.
She opened up about his ordeal in 2009 after online comments about a gang rape victims in the United States left her feeling indignant, and now she has waded into the furor surrounding the "Umbrella" producer's latest offer.
In the video are murdering Rihanna "" her sex attacker, shooting him at a railway station before a series of flashback images showing her grappling with him outside a nightclub as he tries to attack her.
The Union insists the video hit home with her as she also tried to shoot her rapist, but missed.
She admits that she is glad that she did not harm his attacker as it would have "to insult to injury."
In a post on her Twitter.com page, Union writes: "saw You by Rihanna. Each of the victims/survivors of rape is unique, including how they think that they would like it to be disclosed. During my rape I tried to shoot my rapist, but I missed.
"Over the years I realized that kill my rapist would have added insult to injury. The DESIRE to kill someone who abused/raped you is understandable, but if it is not self defense in time to save your life, () are added only to your problems.
"I repeat SELF DEFENSE to save/protect you, I am all for. Otherwise, victims/survivors alike take justice into their own hands by violence with more problems for you!! "
The Union is the rapist showed himself COP and he was sentenced to 33 years behind bars.
