First Trailer for next summer "Battleships" surfaces (see the!)

The first trailer battleship for hasn't been officially released, and it looks ... know? The film is based on the classic Hasbro game you played back when you were small, but it seems to be the only movie and inspiration have in common.

Call us crazy, but on first impression the movie looks like love-child of Armageddon and independence day, with a small piece of The Abyss thrown in for good measure.

Cocky kid works for the father of the girl he likes? Verify. Father not looking for him, was close to his daughter? Verify. Astronomical anomaly occurs, forcing them to overlook their differences to better the planet? Verify. Aliens invade? Verify.

James Cameron (Director of the above The Abyss) is called the idea for the film "ridiculous".

We have a story crisis, says he told Germany's Spiegel Online back in January, "now they want to do battleships game for your movie! This is sheer desperation, because now ' Sequel Business ' governing Hollywood, or how we call it: franchise. "

Based on the classic naval combat game Hasbros, Battleship stars Taylor Kitsch as Lt. Alex Hopper, a naval officer assigned to the USS John Paul Jones, Brooklyn Decker as Sam Shane, a physical therapist and Hoppers fianc?e, Alexander Skarsgard as Hopper's older brother, Stone, of USS Sampson, episode Rihanna as Petty Officer Raikes, Hopper's crewmate and specialist weapon on the USS John Paul Jones, international superstar Liam Neeson Hopper and Stones superior (and Sam's father), Admiral Shane.
